Data

We use airplanes, drones, field work, and computer vision to monitor the timing, distribution, and outcomes of nesting. All data from the Wading Bird Project are made openly available in near real-time so that they can provide the maximum benefit to scientific research and outreach.

To make it as easy as possible to work with the Wading Bird data we have an R package that automates many of the common data cleaning, manipulation, and imputation tasks required to work with the data.

We are developing computer vision based approaches to automatically detect and identify birds to species from airborne imagery. These tools provide near real-time data, allowing us to monitor and forecast wading bird success in the Everglades.
